Day by day Hampshire weather forecast for Queen’s Platinum Jubilee bank holiday weekend

The weather in the lead up to this week’s long bank holiday has been anything but predictable. However, the Met Office has issued a final forecast for Hampshire just a day away from the start of celebrations for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.

So, whether you have Jubilee plans and street parties to ready for or are simply hoping to make the most of your days off HampshireLive has pulled together a daily forecast for the county. The good news is that Met Office forecasters have said the cool and unsettled start to the week is set to make way for a’largely dry’ latter half.

Today (Wednesday, June 1) is expected to see the end of the period of unpredictable weather while from Thursday’things look likely to settle down’. The Met Office has predicted: “Good spells of dry and fine weather, especially in the south . ””

Looking further into the weekend and Friday will likely bring the hottest day of the Jubilee with highs of 21C forecast in Hampshire. Saturday will again be warm with highs of 18C though there will be’patchy cloud and sunny spells’.

Sunday is then expected to remain somewhat cloudy and bring with it the chance of an odd shower. This could even turn heavy in some parts of the south depending on how a plume of warm air develops over the continent, forecasters have warned.

Deputy chief meteorologist at the Met Office Helen Caughey said: “While it may be an unsettled start for some with showers for northern and western areas, many areas will see generally settled conditions over much of the long Jubilee weekend, with plenty of dry weather and good spells of sunshine. Temperatures will be widely in the low 20s, feeling warmer in the sunshine, although temperatures will drop off quickly in the evenings. ”

She added: “The main source of any uncertainty for the weekend itself is to do with how far a plume of warm air to the south encroaches over southern areas of the UK. At present it is looking like it could glance the far southeast on Saturday and Sunday, which would bring with it the risk of some showers, although the heaviest showers look likely to be contained over the continent. ”
