Whether you’re looking for the chance to spend some quality time with friends and family, the chance to make some new friends or just trying to find something special to do during the next several months, you need only look at the many fairs and festivals that are held throughout the Tri-State Area.

Their themes vary widely, and events held across our region feature activities for people of all ages.

Consider a random sample:

• The Juneteenth holiday will be celebrated this weekend with several events planned. In Steubenville, activities will be focused around Second Baptist Church on Friday and Saturday, Harding Stadium on Sunday and the Berkman Amphitheater on June 21. The four-day festival will include food In Weirton, the Weirton Event Center will be the focal point for games, food and music, with a joint service between St. Peter’s AME and Morning Star Baptist Church. planned for Sunday.

• The life of Dean Martin, the legendary entertainer who was born in Steubenville, will be celebrated Thursday, Friday and Saturday with activities spread among the Spot Bar, the area around Historic Fort Steuben and other sites around the community. The Dean Martin Hometown Celebration will include tours of the Jefferson County Historical Museum, performances at the Berkman Amphitheater, the annual Dean Martin Karaoke Contest on Thursday at the Spot Bar as well as Martin tribute shows at the Spot Friday and Saturday.

• Weirton will celebrate its 75th anniversary on July 2 with activities including games, contests, musical entertainment, food and craft vendors and more.

• Thunder in the Ville returns to the Jefferson County Airpark July 8-9.

• Follansbee will hold its annual Community Days celebration July 8-10.

• St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Weirton will hold its annual peach festival on Aug. 13.

• If you’re looking to experience a county fair, there are plenty of options: The Harrison County Fair will be held June 20 through June 25; the Carroll County Fair will be held July 18-24; the Jefferson County Fair is set for Aug. 14-21; and the Brooke County Fair will be held Sept. 16-18.

• The Toronto Art Festival will be held Sept. 3-4.

• The Wellsburg Applefest is set for Oct. 7-9.

• Follansbee’s annual Christmas in the Park will be held Oct. 8-9.

We can’t even begin to list all of the region’s events here, but we can safely say there is something for everyone at area fairs and festivals.
