The city of Hattiesburg welcomes the month of December with a packed events lineup, from tree lightings to performances.

Lights of the Wild

What: The third annual “Lights of the Wild,” featuring displays of lanterns highlighting life-sized animals, plants and holiday décor, returns to the Hattiesburg Zoo.

When: 6 pm to 8:30 pm, Dec. 3-5, 10-12 and 17-23

Havana Nights Wine & Beer Tasting Fundraiser

What: Wine and beer tasting at R3SM’s Havana Night-themed event will help the Pine Belt’s most vulnerable recover from natural disasters, substandard housing, economic crises and the effects of chronic poverty.

When: 6:30 pm, Dec. 3

Where: R3SM, 301 Buschman St.

First Saturday Downtown

What: Downtown businesses will host their own unique events during First Saturday, including outdoor markets, beer releases, art exhibits and more. For details visit the VisitHBURG website.

When: All day Dec. 4

Where: Downtown Hattiesburg

Southern Prohibition Holiday Market

What: Featured vendors include: Kyle Baughman, Abreeza Thomas, Annie Hollingsworth, Leanna Kincannon, Emily Gallaspy, Brianna Schiff, Taylor Beeson Green, Gracie Nichols and Thomas Jackson. Holiday music will start at 2pm by local musicians Jack Marshall, Leeann Marie, Joshua Shurden, Troy Tippy, Jack Magee and Shaggy Miller. Food will be available from Art of Roux.

Where: Southern Prohibition Brewery

Petal Christmas Parade

What: The theme of this year’s parade is “Home for the Holidays.” Featured in this year’s parade is the Coca-Cola Santa Truck.

When: 4 pm, Dec. 4

Where: Main Street

Christmas in Midtown tree lighting ceremony

What: The event will feature the lighting of the Inaugural Midtown Merchants Association Christmas Tree.

When: 5:30 pm, Dec. 4

Where: Midtown Hattiesburg Mural on South 37th Avenue

Brunch with Santa

What: Santa and Mrs. Clause will be making their appearance for brunch. There will be no photographer present, so phones and cameras are welcome. Please RSVP to 601-271-2010 ext. 3.
